About us

The Worldwide Preventive Logistics Observatory (WPLO) is a non-profit organisation registered in the Republic of Panama. It was born in Latin America, with an international outlook, so that governments, businesses and institutions can prepare for the risks that affect trade and supply chains.

Our purpose

To help organisations and territories be better prepared for a global environment of uncertainty, volatility and increasingly frequent logistics disruptions.

Mission

Turning information into the capacity to prevent

To develop and provide preventive logistics intelligence that makes it possible to identify risks and disruptions early and to issue early warnings, in order to support timely decisions, protect operational continuity and strengthen the resilience of supply chains and international trade.

To put technology at the service of safer, more resilient and more competitive logistics.

Vision

The leading international platform

To be the leading international platform for intelligence and preventive logistics, recognised for its ability to identify risks early, issue early warnings and contribute to the resilience of supply chains, international trade and economies.

To contribute to a new model of logistics in which governments, businesses and institutions do not have to wait for a disruption to happen before they act: “logistics prepared to prevent”.

Our value proposition

From reaction to prevention

Traditionally, many organisations receive information when the event is already under way, or when its effects are already hitting their operations. WPLO sets out to change that logic.

Monitor

We continuously observe relevant events and threats.

Analyse

We compare each event with the places you monitor to find out whether it concerns you.

Alert

We communicate events in good time, according to their level of risk.

Explain

What happened, near which of your places and why you received the alert.

Decide

Users get timely information to make preventive decisions.

A new logistics paradigm

WPLO was created to make this transition easier

Reactive logistics
  1. The event occurs
  2. The information is received
  3. The impact is assessed
  4. A reaction follows
Preventive logistics
  1. Events are monitored
  2. The risk is identified
  3. The impact is analysed
  4. An alert is issued
  5. Decisions are made and action is taken

WPLO’s objectives

Ten objectives, one direction

01

Identify logistics and trade risks early

Identify, at an early stage, the threats, events and conditions that could affect supply chains, logistics operations and international trade.

02

Integrate strategic information

Bring multiple sources of information together to build an integrated view of logistics risk, reducing today’s fragmentation.

03

Issue early warnings

Communicate relevant events in good time through a system of classification and prioritisation, with alerts differentiated by risk level.

04

Turn data into information you can act on

Go beyond reporting what is happening: provide information that makes it easier to assess the impact and take preventive decisions.

05

Strengthen operational continuity

Help businesses, governments and institutions prepare for disruptions to operations, supply, critical infrastructure and supply chains.

06

Reduce logistics vulnerabilities

Reduce exposure to geopolitical, climate, social, regulatory, operational and infrastructure risks.

07

Strengthen competitiveness

Support organisations in operating with greater resilience in an international environment of uncertainty and volatility.

08

Democratise access to logistics intelligence

Make monitoring, prevention and intelligence capabilities available to large companies, SMEs, governments, chambers of commerce and institutions.

09

Promote a culture of preventive logistics

Drive the shift from reactive models towards a culture of prevention, preparedness and resilience.

10

Build a global infrastructure

Establish WPLO as the leading international platform for monitoring and preventing risks to trade and supply chains.
